What is our Paintable Repair Filler and how do you use it?

Updated a year ago

Angelus Paintable Repair Filler is perfect for repairing minor holes & scratches. This leather filler is mixable with Angelus Leather Paints to aid with seamless repairs. Dries to a flexible finish to help prevent future cracks and tears. It is perfect for repairing midsole cuts or pitting, cuts or holes in leather, and even gashes in your car seats. Its multi-purpose use makes it the perfect addition to your Angelus collection.

How to use:

1. Prep your surface. This may include deglazing the surface with our Leather Preparer & Deglazer or acetone. We recommend sanding the surface in order to allow the filler to bond to the surface.

2. Apply the filler. You will need to make sure the filler gets inside the crack, cute, or hole. Make sure every layer is thin and smooth so it is easier to sand. Please note that you may need multiple layers of filler.

3. Once the filler is dry, sand and level the filler using sandpaper. The grit will depend on the surface you are working with. We recommend starting at a lower grit and going higher to make sure there are no rough patches.

4. You can now paint once you get the surface texture you are looking for!

What’s the difference between Leather Preparer and Acetone? Which should I use?

What's the difference between Leather Preparer and Acetone? Which should I use?

Updated a year ago

Although Leather Preparer and Acetone can both be used for the same purpose, Acetone has much stronger chemicals that can harm or burn leather items.

Leather Preparer is a safer alternative that will not harm leather when applied correctly.

If you plan on using Acetone be very careful to not let it soak too much. Acetone can eat into some materials if you do not pay enough attention.

STEP 1

Ensure the leather surface is clean and dry to the touch.

STEP 2

Apply a small amount of Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer onto a rag, sponge, applicator pads, cotton balls, or Q-tips.

STEP 3

Wipe down the desired area and allow the product to completely dry. This will remove the factory paint/finish, leaving a clean surface that Angelus Paint will best adhere to. View our tutorial video below:
